Work History
A running log of all the jobs I have worked and all the contracts I have been on since my very first job. This is meant to be a running history of all the different jobs I have had and what I have been able to take away from them when I eventually departed from my position that I held.
Structured Cable Installer
Company ActiveCS Erickson
Grand Rapids, MI, US
When starting with this company I have learned as much as I can in my first few weeks. I would be given a few goals for the day and I would try to achieve all of them and surpass my supervisor(s) expectations for me. In my first few weeks I was able to terminate roughly 200+ jacks that would either make connections to switches or to the end-user devices. These end-user devices ranged from printers to personal computers to TVs to room schedulers. I have learned a great deal of how a small office to large corporate office network is developed and set up for maximum efficiency. This job has also honed my basic IT fundamentals by giving me a look at how an IT closet is set up for success and how to maintain a clean/organized workspace so that working with a corporate-level network is easy to navigate and produces the maximum efficiency.

I have learned what it was like working for a company where I am on a contract, definitely a different environment as a whole when I had accepted this role. I was able to help around 100 medical professionals with setting up and troubleshooting their new pay software between the two facilities for the month I was on this contract. The list of skilles are accurate for the short amount of time that the contract was.

This role gave me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of embedded computer systems in a fast-paced startup environment. I quickly ramped up on the technical details of the product being developed, applying skills from prior experience and coursework to contribute from day one. My responsibilities included soldering wire connections to power sources and gaining hands-on experience with ESP microcontrollers, CAN bus communication, and other embedded engineering components. After helping fulfill the company's first product order, I was entrusted with firmware flashing and programming for the product's display units.

This was a lot more demanding than even I had anticipated for a small town hardware store. The environment of the store was undergoing many changes and it seemed to havechanged everytime I was working. I learned a lot about customer services and what it takes to work in an ever changing environment where patience is keep when solving complex problems of customers and memorizing where the specific nuts and bolts are.

I joined this organization back when I was going into my sophomore year of college, I was able learn a lot while I was there. I had learned a lot of what it takes to be a good leader; I was always looking for feedback on what I did, I learned to be more resilient, and I learned how critical it is to communication with leaders and management. When with this organization, I worked on my social skills to work better as a team and how to identify skill sets within a group. I was also asked to step out of my comfort zone to perform public speaking in front of the entire organization to inform them of whatever information I was given to prepare and cover for them at the time.

I joined the team as a follow on job after my military training for the summer with the National Guard and ROTC summer accessions. I was able to learn a lot of how the federal government responds to disasters and how they deal with specific situations; they even explained how US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) plays its role in the bigger picture and how each region is tailored for specific situations. I was also able to learn more about the different positions and roles that an U.S. Army officer is able to hold.

When I was working for this job, this was probably my biggest job that I took on and it was my first contracting company I worked for. It allowed me to build my resiliency for difficult situations, and work as a team to achieve goals for the good of the construction site we were tasked with keeping secure. I had to frequently communicate with construction works and management to ensure that they were understanding the situations and scenes that needed to be reported; I had to pay close atten-to-detail so that I can carry out my duties to ensure everything on site was secure.

When I first joined this team I had went through various trainings they wanted me to complete to ensure I was equipped with all the tools I would need to complete my tasks. This was very useful and one of the best environments for me since they were very understanding of my class schedule, when emergencies came up, and allow me to practice what I learn in the position I held. I was able to use a list of skills that I had and gained throughout my time with the IT Dept. and while attending college. Couldn't have been more appreciative of this job I held.
